Communication

the process by using messages to generate meaning.
What is the Communication Model?
It is include the verbal and
nonverbal signs, symbols, and behaviors. People communicate with reason and
they expect the respond from the other people as well. In communication situation,
it is content four models: people, messages, channels, and feedback.
How Does it Work?
There
have two roles of people in communication process - the sources and the
receivers of messages. The source is to convey the messages and the receiver is
to give a response on it. Individual cannot perform these two roles
independently. For example, you may want to get the direction to KLCC then you
will ask someone nearby. And the receiver will give the direction to the
person.
Element: MESSAGE
The message is the verbal or nonverbal form of ideas, thoughts, or feelings that one person who wants to communicate with another person. Message can be brief and easy to understand or long and complex.

Getting through a complete message is not simple. Only if you are doing it wrongly. |
It is an interaction between the
people and include the phrases with the movement, body gestures, eye contact
and other nonverbal codes. This is depending on what you
want to know and what you suppose to do with. For example, if you want to know
how to use the Adobe software then you will ask someone about it. And the
receiver will give the appropriate answer on the topic that you want to
know.
Element: SENDER
A sender is someone who initiates the thought of sending through the message. In other words, people who engage first in the conversation is the sender regardless the purpose. In his thoughts, encoding happens.
Element: ENCODING
Encoding is the process of handling the points and transforming into a message to the receiver. In order to encode it perfectly. The sender must consider what are the goals and objectives of sending this message. Does he/she wants feelings to be understood? or does she wants to talk it out?
After all that, it will become a message.
Element: RECEIVER

Element: RECEIVER
The receiver is the one who receive the message and decodes the content of the message. He/she is the respond target marked by the sender.
Element: DECODING
Element: DECODING
After listening to the message, the decoder will decipher the content of the message and tries to understand it. It maybe interrupted through the channel and noises. The receiver will after that provide a respond which called a feedback.
Element: CHANNEL
The
channel is the ways to deliver the message from the source to the receiver. It can
be sound waves, light waves or both. For example, radio, images, newspaper or
others. In person-to-person communication is through the sound and light waves
because the person enable to see and hear what the other person said.
Government and private organization may want to promote the campaign of recycle
and they will promote through media such as advertisement in television by
light waves and through the sound waves in radio.
Element: FEEDBACK
Feedback
is the receiver’s response to the source’s message. Providing the feedback is
to let the sources knows the message was delivered and received. Feedback is a
part of any communication situation. If you ask someone, “Excuse me, where is
the washroom?” but the person just walk away and ignore the message. Then this
message is not delivered and you cannot get the satisfy respond for the
question.
The typical Communication Model. |
Element: NOISE
Noises are interference within the communication model. Noises play a role in the communication model because sometimes messages that are not effective are cost by noises. It may lead to misunderstanding and major errors.
Noise happens all the time due to the nature of communication. It can be pronunciation, background noises, and even surrounding environment.
You can't listen well when there is a baby
crying on the other line. Eighteen and Eighty might sound the same on the phone.
