The Principle of Communication

Communication is an essential of productivity but it is complicated too.

Communication is complicated. First of all, communication is not just a simple message transmission; even a simple conversation can be complicated. It can involve multiple messages such as the verbal and nonverbal communication and behavioral aspects, the choice surrounding the transmission channel used the characteristic of the speaker and the audience, the relationship between speaker and the audience, and the situation in which the communication occurs.
The characteristic of the speaker and the audience could create communication barriers during the conversation.
An example I can give for this principle is about a friend of mine who gave a presentation in a class. His nonverbal communication was not good enough to make us understand what he was trying to present to us. His voice was a bit monotonous which made us feel confused. Because of his lack of tones, we could not distinguish which points are important and which are not. Therefore the presentation came off as a bit boring. Even worse, while he was presenting, the class next to ours was too noisy which caused us to be distracted to really listen and understand the presentation because our minds were already turned out from the presentation.
In addition, the relationship between the speaker and the audience is very important in communication. If your first impression of a person is bad, most probably would not talk with that person or whatever they said you will ignore.
