Celebration of Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year Celebration in SEGi College KL

SEGi College held a celebration of Chinese New Year event in front of college on 2nd February, 2012. Activities included lion dance, set off firecrackers, and free lunch for SEGi staffs and students.

The event was initiated by top of management staff.
The activities initiated by the top of management staffs in SEGi College. Proceeded with the lion dance. The lion dance was completed by two lion, and followed by the rhythm from Chinese tradition music- drum, and gong. 

The lion dance existed in China thousand years ago. In Chinese believe, lion represent brave and fortune. It can be chase all the bad luck and bring a new beginning to the person or company.

The performance of lion dance was awesome and attractive. They jumped up to the pole with astounding acrobatic skills. In addition, the lion had made a lot of expression to gain the attention from audience such as wink, shake his legs, and so on.


The drum players played an important role in the lion dance. Practice and training have been held for years. Each player have their own techniques and steps to play the drum, it is not like the western drum player.
The ceremony ended with firecrackers and an eat-all-you-can buffet for all the staffs and students of SEGi College KL.


The players were played the drum with their own steps and patterns. 


The event was successful.
