New Series of Malaysian banknotes


Malaysia new banknote family confirmed will be issued on July 16, 2012.

The new RM1, RM5, RM10, RM20 and RM100 notes.
The latest series of Malaysian banknotes draws its inspiration from elements which distinctively define the country’s diverse culture, heritage and nature. The theme is “Distinctively Malaysia”, the fourth series of Malaysian banknotes features traditional expressions in the art and craft, natural wonders, flora and fauna, economy and tradition.

The new fourth series of banknote will be in the denomination of RM1, RM5, RM10, RM20 and RM100. This is not a new exercise as it was done periodically for every twelve years. The new design coins are the third in the series for the denominations of 5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents and 50 cents.

The front side of all banknote denominations in the new series retains the portrait of the first Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Rahman Ibni Tuanku Muhammad, the national flower “Bunga Raya” and patterns of traditional woven fabric – the “songket” patterns.

The back side of each banknote denomination features different elements such as nature, tradition, culture, flora and fauna and the economy that are distinctively Malaysia.
